Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Assistant (PCA) working 24 hours per week. The PCA supports Registered Nurses by performing routine procedures under supervision and delivering compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• CNA with high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year patient care experience preferred
• Licensed EMT or Paramedic or nursing student in approved program
• NCLEX authorization to test may be required for some applicants
• CNA certification required for those not currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a nursing program
• Senior and junior high students CNAs with instructor recommendation considered

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with routine procedures under supervision.
• Provide nursing support to achieve patient care goals and advocate for patients.

Education

Licensed EMT or Paramedic

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with high school diploma or equivalent with one year of patient care experience in a clinical setting preferred

Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program for preparation of either professional nurses or licensed practical nurses

Current employees who have completed an approved professional nursing or licensed practical nursing program and are awaiting NCLEX authorization to test (up to 90 days post-graduation)

Current employees who have completed an approved professional nursing or licensed practical nursing program and have been unsuccessful in passing the NCLEX examination (up to 6 months post initial authorization to test)

Junior and Senior High School Students attending a state approved CNA training program who are CNAs and have a recommendation from the instructor
