Job summary

UC Health in Ohio is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct care as delegated by licensed staff. The role ensures a clean and safe environment, measures vital signs, and assists with activities of daily living and specimen collection.

You will communicate observations to the RN in a timely manner and participate in admissions, transfers, and discharges to support high-quality patient care. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and CPR/PATIENT CARE proficiency.

Qualifications

• Trained and maintains proficiency in AHA CPR and patient care skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide all patient care as delegated, maintaining a safe, clean environment.
• Measure vital signs and document observations, including skin integrity and intake/output.
• Collect routine specimens (urine, 24-hour urine, sputum) and assist with ADLs.
• Assist with hygiene, turning, positioning, and mobility; support meals and nutrition.
• Communicate patient observations to RN promptly and document treatments performed.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized environment and report maintenance issues.
• Participate in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Respond to nurse call system and assist with reception duties as directed.
