Job summary

The UPMC Vision Institute is seeking a Patient Access Specialist I to support patients at 1622 Locust Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. This part-time, 24-hour-per-week role helps patients access PA Medical Assistance, UPMC Financial Assistance, and other resources, while tracking progress and performing outreach to ensure continuity of support.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience in a medical office or health care setting preferred.
• Associates degree and 6 months experience preferred.
• Experience with computer-based applications and email.

Responsibilities

• Verify and enter patient demographic information to ensure data integrity.
• Schedule appointments per templates and unit scripts.
• Obtain chief complaints to schedule appropriately.
• Answer multi-line calls and triage to appropriate staff.
• Review patient insurance information and coordinate access to care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and document interactions accurately.
• Support travel to other sites as needed.
• Assist with Outreach and follow-up to ensure continuity of support.
