Job summary

Mercy South's David M. Sindelar Cancer Center in St. Louis seeks a Registered Nurse for the Oncology Infusion Center.

In this part-time role (24 hours per week, days, 8:00 am–4:30 pm), you will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver infusion therapies in an outpatient setting and build lasting relationships with patients and families during their cancer treatment journey. You will assess patients, administer chemotherapy and supportive infusions, monitor responses, maintain IVs/ports,

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current, valid RN license.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Previous oncology experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients before, during, and after infusion treatments.
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration therapy, and other infusion medications.
• Monitor patients closely for treatment responses and adverse reactions.
• Access and maintain peripheral IVs, ports, and central lines.
• Collaborate with oncologists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and support staff to coordinate treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families on medications, side effects, symptom management, and ongoing care needs.
• Review laboratory results and communicate significant findings to the care team.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic health record.
• Maintain oncology treatment safety standards and infection prevention practices.
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout the treatment process.
