Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a dedicated Occupational Therapist Assistant for PRN coverage at Southwest Hospital in Texas. The role performs routine OT treatments under supervision, documents progress and assists with program development.

Qualified candidates have OTA program graduate or OT program completion, Texas OT license, BLS, and at least one year of experience preferred. The position requires lifting, standing, and strong communication with patients and care teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited OTA or OT program.
• Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners license required; BLS certification.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 75–100 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping and squatting.

Responsibilities

• Implements occupational therapy treatment plan as described by the OT’s written plan of care.
• Provides OT services under OT supervision and modifies treatments as allowed.
• Supervises rehabilitation technicians and others with regards to patient care.
• May screen patients for possible OT services under the direction of an OT.
• Monitors patient progress toward treatment goals.
• Motivates and instructs patients/caregivers; communicates with care teams.
• Documents appropriately in the medical record and completes documentation duties.
• Serves as a clinical resource to colleagues and acts as a mentor to OTA interns.
• Promotes safe, compassionate and efficient patient care per policies.
