Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Texas is seeking a PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant for weekday coverage at Southwest Hospital. You will perform routine OT treatments under the direction of a licensed OT, document progress, and supervise rehabilitation technicians.

You will assist with program development, support students and interns, and help with department operations while upholding Memorial Hermann policies, privacy, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant or an Occupational Therapist program.
• Current Texas OT license and BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year of experience; leadership in operational functions or clinical program.
• Ability to lift 75-100 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing, walking, bending, and dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility in the care of the patient and implements an OT treatment per the plan of care.
• Provides OT services under supervision of the OT and adjusts treatments as allowed by the plan of care.
• Supervises rehabilitation technicians and others with regards to patient care.
• May screen patients for possible OT services under the direction of an OT.
• Monitors patient progress toward treatment goals and documents accordingly.
• Communicates effectively with patients, caregivers, the supervising OT, and other professionals.
• Manages time effectively and adheres to documentation standards.
• Presents topics in professional meetings and serves as a clinical resource to staff.
