Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have at least 8th grade education.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business materials.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Mathematical skills: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Reasoning ability to solve practical problems with concrete variables.
• Certification/licensure as required by the facility.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with the facility’s administrative structure as introduced in orientation.
• Identify residents before administering treatments, serving meals, etc.
• Report all accidents and incidents observed on the shift.
• Use only authorized abbreviations when recording information.
• Notify Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of changes in resident condition.
• Record entries on flow sheets, notes, charts in an informative, descriptive manner.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information and report unauthorized disclosures.
• Report unauthorized attempts to access the facility’s information system.
• Perform only nursing procedures you have been trained to do.
• Prepare resident rooms for receiving residents (beds made, name tags, admission kit).
• Greet residents and escort them to their room; introduce to roommates and staff.
• Inventory and mark resident possessions; store clothing.
• Assist transfers and discharges; transport residents between rooms and areas.
• Assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles.
• Participate in and receive nursing reports.
• Follow policies on exposure to blood/body fluids; maintain safety.
