Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Nursing Assistant for the Medical Surgical 6 West unit in Burlington, VT. Under a Registered Nurse’s supervision, you will provide for patients’ personal needs, comfort and safety, and perform activities of daily living.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, assisting with nutrition, basic clinical procedures, and safe medication access under policy. Teamwork and safety are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensure, Certification, Registration: None required.
• Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Basic ability to read, write and perform basic four-function math.
• Ability to obtain knowledge of medical terminology, basic personal computer skills, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience: None.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients as delegated by the RN and complete ADLs.
• Take and record vital signs, height/weight, oxygen saturation and report unusual observations.
• Intake and Output: collect specimens and measure intake/output.
• Provide for patient nutrition and assist with room service and feeding.
• Perform basic clinical procedures under supervision of a nurse.
• Follow procedures related to access to non-controlled medications when granted access.
• Support safety culture and infection control policies.
• Assist with orientation of new Nursing Assistant colleagues.
• Perform other unit-based activities as assigned.
