Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant I for the 3rd Floor Medical/Surgical Unit in Clayton, NC. The role involves routine direct and indirect patient care under supervision, with a focus on safety and patient comfort on a 24-bed unit.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians, observing patient conditions, documenting changes, and supporting discharge planning. Requires Basic Life Support and NC Nursing Assistant I licensure, with preference for 6 months of nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English required.
• Able to develop basic computer skills.
• No specialized degree required if other position requirements are met.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• In the psychiatric setting, aid patients in reality orientation and support therapy efforts while ensuring safety.
• Observe, collect, and document patient information and promptly report significant changes to the nurse or physician.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge processes.
