Job summary

Duke Regional Hospital, part of Duke Health, is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide essential patient care across multiple units. The NA will work under RN/LPN supervision, performing nonprofessional duties, assisting with mobility, hygiene, and comfort, and supporting clinical staff to ensure continuous patient care.

The role emphasizes flexibility to rotate between units, proper documentation, and adherence to safety standards, with shifts of three 12-hour days.

Qualifications

Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.
Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable to work in a hospital.
Ability to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and/or paper documentation tools.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for specific procedures and provide manual assistance as required.
Take and record vital signs, document I&O, and notify RN/LPN of changes in patient condition.
Assist with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients.
Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.
Assist with specimens and routine tests as needed.
