Job summary

Active Day is seeking a dependable Driver to operate and maintain mobility buses, assisting members on and off vehicles and providing door-to-door transportation to centers. You will escort members in all weather, transport to medical appointments and run errands while upholding safety and courtesy.

As a trusted frontline representative, you will maintain vehicle records, communicate professionally with families and staff, and help identify ways to improve efficiency and member experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to multi-task and manage time effectively.
• Prior experience working as a driver preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license and state/vehicle-specific driver credentials.
• Prior experience working with seniors and/or adults with special needs preferred.
• Able to push, pull, bend, turn, pivot, transfer and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to pass required physical exams including Department of Transportation (DOT) exam.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and follow maintenance and fueling schedule.
• Notify supervisor of mechanical or safety concerns and report repairs.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Assist members with on- and off-boarding and with special needs.
• Confirm members are securely fastened and transported safely.
• Maintain route, mileage, fuel and service records.
• Communicate professionally with members, families and coworkers.
• Report issues to lead driver or transportation coordinator.
• Comply with policies, safety and regulatory standards.
• Identify and implement operational efficiencies to enhance member experience.
