Job summary

The Southwood is seeking a compassionate and experienced Medication Aide - SIC to support our clinical team in administering medications and providing specialized care to residents at The Southwood. As a Medication Aide, you will administer meds as prescribed, monitor residents, document care, and collaborate with nurses to ensure safety and quality of life for our senior residents.

State certification preferred; on-the-job training available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• State certification as Medication Aide preferred; on-the-job training available.
• Previous healthcare experience in senior care or assisted living preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medication administration, safety protocols, and infection control.
• Effective communication with residents, families, and team members.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper dosage, timing, and documentation.
• Provide individualized care for residents with specific medical needs, including assistance with ADLs.
• Maintain accurate and timely medication records and document adverse reactions or medication errors.
• Monitor residents for side effects or health status changes and report concerns to the healthcare team.
• Store and handle medications safely in compliance with state regulations and facility policies.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal resident outcomes.
• Follow all regulations, guidelines, and protocols for medication administration and safety.
