Edenton House in Edenton, NC is seeking a compassionate Medication Aide - SIC to support our clinical team in administering medications and providing specialized care to residents. This role emphasizes accurate documentation, collaboration with nurses, and ongoing attention to resident well-being.

Ideal candidates possess a high school diploma, state certification as Medication Aide (preferred), and healthcare experience, particularly in senior care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• State certification as Medication Aide is preferred; on-the-job training may be provided.
• Experience in healthcare, especially senior care, is desirable.
• Knowledge of medication administration, safety protocols and infection control is important.
• Strong communication with residents, families and team members is essential.
• Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly is necessary.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are important.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to residents as prescribed, ensuring proper dosage and documentation.
• Provide individualized care and assist with ADLs as needed.
• Maintain accurate medication records and report adverse reactions or errors to the supervising nurse.
• Monitor residents for side effects or changes in health status related to medications.
• Ensure safe storage and handling of medications per regulations and policies.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize resident care.
• Follow all regulations and safety protocols for medication administration.
