Job summary

Tenet Healthcare's DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit is seeking a Nursing professional for a PRN daytime role. You will greet patients, register them, and assist physicians with examinations, while handling vital signs, charting, and basic procedures.

Responsibilities include coordinating with insurance, managing billing, and supporting patient flow in a busy hospital setting. The role requires high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred practical nursing or Medical Assistant training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from a Practical Nursing program or equivalent.
• Nurse Assistant, PCA/PCT, Medical Assistant programs or six months in doctor’s office experience.
• EMT or Phlebotomy training is acceptable.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and direct them appropriately.
• Register patients for outpatient services and collect demographic/insurance data.
• Coordinate with insurance providers on benefits and patient co-pays; handle billing tasks.
• Prepare patient charts and manage medical records documentation.
• Assist physicians during examinations and prepare exam rooms.
• Record vital signs and document in patient chart.
• Perform or assist with routine procedures (injections, venipuncture, EKGs, etc.).
• Schedule referrals and patient appointments; assist with procedures as needed.
• Enter and verify patient billing information in the system.
• Support lab slips, data entry, and training of new staff.
