Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) provides general medical care in outpatient clinics operated through a franchised network across the U.S. Each location features onsite labs and x-ray capabilities.

The role supports licensed providers with patient intake, exam prep, and procedure assistance. The position involves collecting vitals, histories, and immunizations, documenting care, and performing routine tests and screenings in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree (A.A.) or six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
• AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance per written instructions
• Respond to lab messages and call back requests
• Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are documented and administered appropriately
• Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties as assigned
