Bakersfield Family Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant Ward Clerk to support clinic operations and patient care in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

The role includes vital signs, specimen collection, basic wound care, EHR documentation, referrals, and back‑up reception, under supervision. Requires MA program graduate, high school diploma, and current BLS/venipuncture certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or certificate required.
• Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current venipuncture certification.
• Knowledge of computers and basic software.
• One year physician office/clinic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage front-desk duties as needed.
• Schedule appointments per physician/department guidelines.
• Update patient information in NextGen and other EMR systems.
• Assist with referrals, intake notes, vital signs, and EHR documentation.
• Handle back‑up reception and NextMD messaging.
• Perform nurse‑level procedures and basic clinical tasks as assigned.
• Ensure proper handling of medications and vaccines as ordered.
• Maintain a clean work area and professional patient interactions.
