Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a Medical Assistant (Primary Care & Float) to support outpatient clinic operations in San Jose. The role blends clinical and administrative duties to ensure safe, efficient patient care and a smooth patient experience.

You will work under providers and nursing staff, collaborating with specialists and clinic teams to support a frail elderly population and ensure high-quality service in a team-based environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' MA experience serving a frail/elderly population.
• Graduate of a two-year Medical Assistant program.
• Current Medical Assistant certification.
• BLS certification.
• Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist medical staff in delivering efficient, high-quality patient care.
• Prepare patients for appointments: room setup, check-in/out, histories.
• Perform pre-exam procedures and measure vital signs.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
• Perform authorized clinical procedures under supervision.
• Collect, prepare, and process laboratory specimens.
• Sterilize medical and dental equipment per guidelines.
• Triage and support unscheduled visits as directed.
• Document care and education provided to patients.
• Conduct staff and non-staff COVID testing as needed.
• Proactively review specialist schedules to optimize availability.
• Coordinate and distribute weekly schedules for on-site specialty providers.
• Prepare patients for specialty visits with complete histories.
• Ensure current orders and documentation for specialty visits.
• Document specialty care in the EMR.
