Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the West Hospital Medical Office Building in Cincinnati, OH. The MA will support clinicians by collecting vitals, preparing patients, and assisting with procedures in alignment with state guidelines and Mercy Health standards.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, enrollment in an MA program within 30 days, and certification within 12 months. Excellent communication and multitasking abilities are essential in a high-volume clinic

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Enrollment in an approved Medical Assistant program within 30 days of employment.
• Active Medical Assisting certification within 12 months of start date (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA) and ABR-OE option where applicable.
• BLS Basic Life Support required at hire for certain Mercy locations or prior to independent patient care.
• Completion of externship or clinical lab training preferred.
• 1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, and chief complaints.
• Interview patients to obtain information and measure vital signs.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Collect specimens and prepare them for testing.
• Explain treatments and instructions to patients.
• Maintain sterility and perform routine lab tests and basic office duties.
