Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing staff by rooming patients, managing flow, and assisting with exams and procedures. The role emphasizes accurate EMR documentation, patient communication, and medication administration under supervision.

The position requires completion of an MA program and preferably BLS certification, with responsibilities including direct patient interaction, specimen handling, and back-office coordination.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description.
• Must have completed a Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare education program with a similar scope of clinical training.
• Candidates with fewer than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience must have completed a minimum of 160 hours of clinical externship or equivalent practicum.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, manages patient flow and obtains adequate patient medical information/data.
• Collects and confirms patient information via interview, questionnaires, vital signs and documents in EMR.
• Performs injections and assists with procedures as delegated by Provider or RN.
• Supports patient care and reinforces information regarding tests, labs, procedures, and treatment plans.
• May assist with front desk activities and provide backup to patient registration/scheduling.
