Job summary

Allina Health in Minnesota is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing staff in delivering timely, quality patient care. You will room patients, collect information, assist with exams and procedures, and help manage patient flow using EMR systems.

The role emphasizes patient-centered care, safety, and collaboration with the care team. The position is based in Minnesota with no weekend shifts as per onboarding schedules described.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older with education/experience to meet competency as listed on the job description.
• Candidates must have completed a Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare education program with a similar scope of clinical training.
• Candidates with fewer than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience must have completed a minimum of 160 hours of clinical externship or equivalent practicum.

Responsibilities

• Room patients, manage patient flow and obtain adequate patient medical information/data.
• Collects and confirms patient information via interview, questionnaires, vital signs and documents in EMR according to standards.
• Assists patients for physician exams, including psycho-emotional support.
• Assists with specimen collection, labeling, processing, and coordination of results with provider.
• Performs injections and assists with procedures as delegated by Provider or RN.
• Maintains safe environment and reports risks or equipment malfunctions.

Education

Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare education program

High school diploma or GED

160 hours clinical externship (for <6 months MA experience)
