Job summary

Advocate Health in North Carolina is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. You will perform patient rooming, vital signs, history taking, med reconciliation, and health maintenance tasks under provider supervision.

You will assist with procedures, draw blood, handle lab tasks per CLIA, administer vaccines, manage refills and scheduling, and ensure a clean, compliant work environment while communicating effectively with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal MA program or EMT.
• High School Diploma or GED required (IL/WI Divisions).
• Completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program, or 2 years of verifiable full-time MA experience within the last 5 years (IL/WI Divisions).
• High School Diploma or GED required (Wake Forest).
• Completion of an accredited MA program or DD214 in lieu of formal MA program (Wake Forest).
• High School Diploma or GED required (Floyd & Navicent).
• Completion of an accredited/approved MA program or 2 years MA experience (Floyd & Navicent).
• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, history, medication reconciliation, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT per orders.
• Administers medications and vaccines following rights of administration.
• Handles duties such as refills, authorizations, messaging, ordering, scheduling, referrals.
• Maintains communication, teamwork, and escalation.
• Keeps work environment clean and stocked; equipment in working order.
• May assist with training and onboarding of teammates.
• May serve as role champion or on a committee.
• Provide age-appropriate care and knowledge for growth and development.
