Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams at our Concord, NC facilities. You will perform vital signs, medical history collection, patient rooming, and routine screenings while adhering to scope of practice and safety standards.

Responsibilities include assisting providers, performing CLIA-waived labs and POCT, immunizations, medication administration, and scheduling. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential for patient care.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard clinical software.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or acceptable military/EMT alternative.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice, follows policies and maintains competency.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, history, medications reconciliation, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following medication rights.
• Handles refills, insurance authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Maintains clean, stocked work areas and proper equipment function.
• May assist training/onboarding of teammates.
• Demonstrates effective communication and timely escalation when needed.
• Supports age-appropriate patient care and teamwork across departments.
