Job summary

UTHealth Houston is hiring a Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. You will support safe, timely and equitable patient care while contributing to a positive patient experience.

The MA will work closely with clinicians, document vitals and medical history, assist with procedures, and handle scheduling and basic clerical tasks. A High school diploma or equivalent plus a certified MA program is expected, with BLS required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program OR one year of related experience with certification substituted.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of safe, effective and equitable patient care.
• Rooms patients with documented chief complaint, vital signs, meds, allergies and smoking history.
• Assist with routine and specialty procedures and room preparation.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and perform clerical duties (photocopying, scanning, faxing).
• Respond to emergencies and maintain HIPAA privacy.
