Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (MA) to assist in patient examinations and treatments under supervision of the clinical leadership. The MA helps providers with patient care, procedures, diagnostics, and dressing changes, while performing general administrative duties in compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA, and company policies.

The position may schedule appointments, verify eligibility for care, and ensure medical necessity.

Qualifications

• Two years MA experience in a clinic/outpatient setting or one year in the Novice-II position.
• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification and CMA/MA certification is required.
• CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in examinations and treatments under supervision of clinicians.
• Support providers in patient care and documentation across clinical areas.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify medical necessity/eligibility for care.
• Maintain patient records and ensure privacy and security of information.
