Job summary

Care New England seeks a Medical Assistant to support daily clinical operations at its Providence-area practices. You will perform rooming, vital signs, injections, EMR documentation, and assist with procedures under licensed providers.

The role emphasizes patient-centered care, HIPAA compliance, and strong teamwork. Flexibility to float between CNEMG locations may be required. High school diploma and MA training are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a medical assistant training program and/or 6–12 months of job-related experience.
• Must be able to complete competencies (EKG, vaccination administration, vital signs, med reconciliation, Holter monitors, etc.).
• Prior experience with an electronic medical record system strongly preferred.
• Proficient in vital signs, injections, phlebotomy, lab tests, and operating medical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming procedures with patient ID, vital signs, medication reconciliation, history intake, and documentation in EPIC.
• Assists with EKGs, immunizations, wound care, specimen collection; prepares instruments and follows time-out protocols.
• Monitors and records vital signs (BP, height, weight, pulse, respirations, temperature, vision).
• Obtains prior authorizations for imaging and medications.
• Prepares charts by reviewing records, scanning external docs, and verifying completeness.
• Follows infection control protocols with routine disinfection and safe handling of equipment.
• Coordinates follow-up appointments and ensures paperwork is filed.
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies and reports equipment issues.
• Protects patient privacy per HIPAA and policies.
• Exhibits professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
• May float to another CNEMG location as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
