Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Omaha is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in clinics, assist with phlebotomy and examinations, and coordinate tests and patient care under provider direction.

The role requires completion of an approved Medical Assistant program, externship or MA experience, and BLS certification within 3 months of hire. Strong communication and HIPAA knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program.
• Externship/preceptorship in a clinical setting OR 6 months MA experience.
• Current BLS/CPR preferred within 3 months of hire.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Ability to type accurately and use computer systems.
• Strong communication with patients and families.
• HIPAA awareness and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with exams, phlebotomy, injections, and entering orders.
• Educate patients and refer to community resources as needed.
• Perform telephone triage and relay patient information to providers.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and equipment.
• Handle prescription renewals and inquiries per policy.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect/process specimens.
• Schedule and coordinate tests and procedures as directed.
