Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Omaha, NE is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and care teams in clinic settings. Monday–Friday schedule 8:00am–4:30pm, with duties including prepping patients, phlebotomy, injections, documenting orders, and coordinating tests.

The ideal candidate has completed an approved Medical Assistant program or is currently enrolled in nursing studies, strong communication, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant program is required.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program with half of courses completed may apply; transcripts needed.
• BLS certification preferred; should be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Minimum 6 months of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and equipment for patient care.
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and assist with medication administration.
• Record and update patient records accurately in the EHR.
• Schedule and coordinate tests and follow up on results.
• Provide compassionate patient education and address questions.
• Answer phone calls and manage messages per protocol.
