Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Omaha Area Clinic. The role supports physicians with exams, phlebotomy, and coordinating tests, while maintaining accurate medical records and handling phone interactions.

The position requires completion of an accredited MA program, externship or CMA experience, and may involve 6 months of related work. BLS certification preferred, with HIPAA familiarity.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program required, including externship/preceptorship or 6 months CMA experience.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program with half of nursing courses completed required.
• Transcripts must be provided indicating classes have been passed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update medical records and forms.
• Assist Health Coaches by working patient lists and scheduling appointments as directed.
• Prepare patients for examination and collect vital signs; enter data into the medical record.
• Transcribe information provided by patients into the medical record as directed by the provider.
• Obtain provider requested tests, records, and lab work as directed.
• Perform EKGs as instructed.
• Assist with phlebotomy and proper labeling/handling of specimens.
• Enter prescriber instructions for lab and radiology orders accurately in the EMR.
• Schedule tests and other appointments as directed.
• Administer medications and document in the EMR per protocol.
