Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Preferred: Technical Degree or Diploma Medical Assistant.
• Experience: Medical Assistant or similar 3-5 years.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills and EMR navigation.

Responsibilities

• Performs receptionist, clerical and data entry activities related to patient care such as scheduling appointments and Diagnostic Imaging exams, lab call backs, prior authorizations, retrieving medical histories, filling out patient paperwork and forms and answering and returning phone calls.
• Proactively assists patients throughout the visit as needed, accompanies patients to the exam/procedure room.
• Collects and records patient data including height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration rate and blood pressure, and basic information about the presenting and previous conditions.
• May assist with physical examination preparations.
• Performs EKGs, removes sutures/staples, and changes sterile and non-sterile dressings as directed.
• Collects and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis utilizing non-invasive techniques.
• Administers medication and immunizations under supervision.
• May authorize prescription refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Administers first aid or CPR in an emergency.
• Prepares and cleans exam rooms and ensures infection control.
• Provides patient education and instructions.
