Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians and patients with in-person, electronic, and telephone care under supervision. You will help prepare for visits, document pertinent information, and provide compassionate service to diverse patients while maintaining privacy and accuracy.

Required is a high school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program is preferred, along with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a formal medical assistant training program preferred.
• Proficiency with computers, software and web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Answers patient questions prior to leaving and prepares the room for the next appointment.
• Provides excellent patient service through effective communication over the phone and in person.
• Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration when necessary.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, skills, training and credentials through ongoing development.
• Adapts communication to patient population, respecting privacy and preferences.
• Performs other related duties as required.
