Job summary

Mercy Retirement & Care Center in Oakland seeks a Medication Aide/Med Tech to prepare and pass medications for residents as ordered, maintain accurate logs, and reorder meds as needed. You will work within an electronic system and ensure on-time refills according to policy.

Requirements include a Med Tech certification, CPR/First Aid, and 6+ months in long-term care or related field. Strong communication and English proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with computerized Point of Care systems.
• 6+ months in long term care or related field preferred.
• Successful completion of Med Tech Training program and state certification.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Background check and pre-employment screening as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and passes medication for residents as ordered by a physician, reporting any medication errors, side effects or problems.
• Documents administration or refusal of medication in required format and style.
• Maintains documentation and communication log in required procedures, using electronic system when appropriate.
• Reorders meds as needed, following appropriate protocols.
• Manages delivery, ordering, re-ordering, storage, documentation and destruction of medications.
• Insures medications are available through on-time refills and orders labs as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
