Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join SLVHCS across multiple clinics and care settings.

The LPN contributes to the clinical team, demonstrates nursing techniques across acute and chronic care, and follows safety practices to prevent infection while caring for patients/residents. Responsibilities include medication administration, wound care, patient education, lab specimen collection, EKG data entry, and coordination with RNs/MDs.

Qualifications

• Must be a United States citizen or eligible per VA policy.
• Graduate of an approved practical nurse program.
• Active, unrestricted LPN/LVN license.
• English language proficiency is required.
• VA policy dictates grade progression and responsibilities per GS levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide comfort measures and activities of daily living during clinic visits.
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, and catheter care as needed.
• Insert indwelling/intermittent catheters and collect specimens.
• Perform venipuncture and assist with lab tests and samples.
• Administer vaccines and document actions in relevant systems.
