Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking Nursing Assistants for the Long Term Care units at Montrose and Castle Point campuses. Candidates will provide direct patient care under RN/LPN supervision, support the care plan, and assist with daily activities in a 24/7 setting.

Positions involve rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Open to qualified applicants with relevant education or experience; VA policies apply for grandfathering and KSAs.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship required
• English proficiency in spoken and written English
• Six months of general experience
• Experience must demonstrate ability to acquire nursing knowledge and skills
• Two years above high school with related courses or an intensive occupation-specific course of less than one year leading to NA certification
• GS-3 to GS-5 progression requires KSAs in patient care, observation, communication, and safety

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to residents in the Long Term Care Unit
• Work rotating day/evening/night shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Assist licensed staff and participate in care planning
• Observe residents and report deviations to supervisor promptly
• Assist with personal hygiene, comfort, mobility, nutrition, and rehabilitation activities
• Document care and observations in the Electronic Health Record
