Job summary

Nurse Next Door San Mateo is seeking compassionate caregivers to provide in-home nonmedical support to seniors. No experience required; 10–40 hours/week with flexible morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts available.

Caregivers follow care plans, assist with ADLs, hygiene, meals, errands, and medication reminders, while maintaining client records and adhering to state regulations. Training and registration support provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Current registration with the California Home Care Aide Registry
• Criminal background check completed or plan to complete
• Evidence of entry-level training or plan for paid training
• TB testing and clearance
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Self-directed with minimal supervision
• Empathy for ill and elderly
• Demonstrates tact, patience and good hygiene
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance or reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer
• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) within the scope for a Health Care Aide
• Help with personal hygiene and grooming
• Assist with transfers, ambulation and positioning
• Support prescribed exercises taught by health personnel
• Meal planning and preparation including therapeutic diets
• Assist with bathroom needs and incontinence care
• Perform household tasks and companionship duties
• Remind clients of medications as needed
• Report changes to the administrator and document services
• Drive to appointments or run errands
• Accurately record hours worked
• Remain attentive to client needs during shifts
• Complete required training and maintain HCA registry status
• Other duties as assigned
