Qualifications

• Must be able to handle stressful situations inherent to collection and dispatch of urgent medical laboratory testing results.
• Must possess good organizational skills and have the ability to deal effectively with the hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Properly obtain venous and capillary blood samples with proper patient identification and labeling for all ages.
• Use the hospital LIS system to collect and receive samples, cancel specimens, and reprint labels.
• Participate in inventory control by stocking phlebotomy areas and checking inventory for expiration dates.
• Treat patients with courtesy and respect.
• Be present for all scheduled shifts and cover other shifts during high workload periods.
