Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in music therapy from an accredited program.
• State-credentialed music therapist in good standing.
• Minimum 2 years of music therapy experience; hospice experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Understanding hospice philosophy with focus on comfort.
• Valid driver's license with insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide music therapy services to patients according to an individualized plan of care.
• Assess and evaluate therapeutic status and contribute to the total plan of care.
• Direct music therapy treatment and determine priority needs for music therapy.
• Report patient reactions to treatment or changes in condition to physician.
• Instruct staff and family/caregivers in music therapy phases and goals.
• Prepare and submit clinical and progress summaries.
• Provide music therapy consultation to families/caregivers as appropriate.
• Provide in-service education to nursing personnel as needed.
• Participate in an interdisciplinary group and quality improvement activities.
• Participate in an orientation program for hospice team members.
