Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) or one year experience in a comparable human service capacity, or caring for a dependent relative, or progress towards GED required.
• Background check clearance required.
• Must complete required training prior to direct service work.
• Minimum of one year experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to follow instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate in English clearly, verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of basic homecare duties, ability to follow client plan of care.
• Demonstrated ability to show compassion for client needs.
• Valid driver’s license, in good standing preferred.
• Access to reliable transportation required.
• Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe client functioning and report changes to supervisor or employer.
• Assist with household chores including planning meals, bed making, cleaning, laundry, and housekeeping tasks.
• Assist with shopping and appointments outside of the home as needed.
• Assist client with activities of daily living and personal care (bathing, hair, shaving, reminders, nail and mouth care, dressing).
• Assist with ambulation, positioning, toileting, and transfers.
• Complete records documenting service provisions; follow care plan and report changes in the calendar.
• Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and treat clients, families, and staff with dignity, respect, honesty, and fairness.
