Job summary

DOORWAYS is seeking a Cook to join our food service team. The position requires preparing food per planned menus, adhering to dietary restrictions, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards in a healthcare environment.

The role reports to the Food Services Manager and involves participating in training, coordinating with nursing services, and ensuring timely meal production and service. A background check, drug test, and TB test are required.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of food service experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, residential setting, or other related food service environment preferred.
• Minimum education sufficient to read and follow written instructions, recipes, labels, safety procedures, and required documentation.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to preparation of food.
• Assure that all food service procedures are followed in accordance with established standards.
• Assist in establishing production line to ensure meals are prepared timely.
• Process diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Services.
• Develop and maintain good working rapport with inter-department personnel to meet resident needs.
• Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth and positive emphasis throughout the department.
• Attend and participate in training in-services, workshops, seminars as directed.
• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus and recipes.
• Serve food following established portion control procedures.
• Maintain sanitary and safety procedures in all food service areas.
