Job summary

Huntsville Hospital Health System is seeking a Health Care Assistant (HCA) to support the assigned unit with technical patient care services and clerical duties. Responsibilities include vital signs, activities of daily living, transport and discharge transfers, plus assisting staff and physicians as needed.

The role also entails clerical tasks such as directing calls, entering patient charges, and maintaining charts and unit files while ensuring a safe, orderly environment on the nursing unit.

Qualifications

• Education: HS/GED required.
• Education preferred: Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant and/or Huntsville Hospital Health Care Assistant course preferred
• License, Certification and/or Registration: BCLS is required by the conclusion of orientation.
• Experience: Requires previous patient care and/or two years clerical expereience with successful work history.
• Additional skills/abilities: Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide vital signs, activities of daily living, transport and patient discharge transfers.
• Assist staff, physicians, visitors and other departments with routine patient care activities.
• Direct incoming calls, enter patient charges in the computer system, maintain patient charts and unit files.
• Maintain a safe and orderly environment.
