Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Transfer Care Specialist in Edmonds, WA. You will be the first contact for families, transporting the decedent from hospitals, nursing homes, residences, or coroner's offices to the funeral home.

You must lift up to 100 lbs, hold a valid driver's license, and navigate varying conditions with a calm, compassionate demeanor. The role requires on-call availability, accurate paperwork, and professional presentation while supporting funeral home staff and families with empathy

Qualifications

• Ability to maintain composure with compassion in challenging situations.
• Lift up to 100 lbs safely and operate a vehicle in various conditions.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to follow detailed instructions and receive feedback positively.

Responsibilities

• Compassion & Empathy: Respectfully answer questions and direct Families to resources upon arrival and departure for transfer of the decedent.
• Safe Transport: Navigate local roads and highways with varying traffic, time of day/night, and weather conditions; familiar with GPS or direction apps.
• Reliability & Availability: Willing to work irregular hours as needed (on-call), including nights and weekends; fill in for staff as needed.
• Meticulous Attention: Ensure paperwork is completed correctly and timely per relevant laws and regulations.
• Critical Thinking: Receive instructions for multiple tasks, determine the best order, and complete them promptly.
• Professional Demeanor: Maintain neat and presentable appearance; perform other duties as needed (washing vehicles).
