Job summary

Service Corporation International Beech Grove location seeks a Funeral Services Assistant to provide clerical and administrative support for funeral operations and details for families. You will greet families, answer questions, assist on services, and ensure smooth workflow with a compassionate approach.

Responsibilities include set-up of floral arrangements, preparing documents, assisting with remains, driving and parking as needed, and offering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office suite and databases preferred; ability and willingness to learn required.
• Certification/Licenses: Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for services including delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos and other keepsakes; ensures proper care and storage.
• Prepares documents related to services, cremations, maintenance as directed by management.
• Assists with preparation of remains, including dressing and lifting, or operation of crematory as permitted by law.
• Performs office duties: phones, fax, computer, phone system, debit card machine, typewriter, postage meter, scale, stereo/video system.
• Runs errands for floral delivery and supplies.
• Serves as usher and may park cars or perform transportation duties.
• Drives funeral home vehicles for services and family pickups.
• Ensures refreshments are available where allowed by law.
• Assists with visitations, memorials and funeral services; assists with setup and delivery of items.
