Job summary

Service Corporation International is looking for a dedicated Funeral Assistant to support families during funeral services and aftercare. You will coordinate logistics, confirm arrangements, and assist with ceremonies and memorialization in a compassionate, professional manner.

Requirements include a high school diploma, at least 3 years related experience, and a valid driver’s license. You’ll collaborate with licensed staff and deliver exceptional customer service at every step.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years related experience as a Funeral Assistant.
• Licenses: Current state/province issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of religious and fraternal organizations customs; knowledge of computers and MS Office Suite; high level of compassion and integrity; good communication skills; problem solving; ability to multi task and set priorities; detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Arranges, conducts and directs bereavement rites in a professional, organized and caring manner.
• Confirms authorization to proceed with service arrangements.
• Inform client families of special recognition/services for veterans and ensure delivery of chosen services.
• Assist with funeral services: coordinate parking, usher, drive funeral vehicles, assist at services and cemetery, handle flowers and keepsakes, set up and remove chairs.
• Provide aftercare in absence of Family Service Counselor: deliver documentation, information on insurance, pre-arrangements for next of kin.
