Job summary

sci in New York is seeking a dedicated courier/driver to perform first call transfer of deceased, handling chain-of-custody, paperwork, and respectful interactions with families. You will operate company vehicles, enter data into proprietary software, and assist with moving caskets to appropriate locations.

The role requires weekend and night availability, physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly, and adherence to safety and company procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current state/province driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• At least one year of courier/driver experience with direct customer interaction preferred.
• Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays; on-call rotation.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally; push/pull up to 200 pounds.
• Ability to drive in hazardous, heavy traffic, and weather conditions.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely drives company vehicles for first call transfer of deceased in line with laws and policies.
• Follows chain-of-custody, paperwork, and identification procedures.
• Cooperates with first responders, coroner, hospital staff, or facilities as required.
• Interacts with bereaved families during home transfers with sensitivity.
• Transports soiled garments and materials per procedures; leaves a warm impression.
• Enters event information into proprietary software as required.
• Transports caskets to airports, care centers, or funeral homes; assists with moving.
