Job summary

StoryPoint in Altoona, IA is seeking a Caregiver/Medication Manager to provide compassionate personal assistance to residents and administer medications within our community. The role involves helping residents with daily living activities, monitoring health indicators, following medication protocols, and collaborating with nursing staff to support residents’ safety, dignity, and well‑being.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to obtain Medication Manager certification on-site if not already certified.
Previous healthcare, geriatrics, or elderly care experience preferred.
Desire to work with geriatric population.
Training per state requirements.
Must have current CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

Bathe and clean residents as needed by bed bath, shower or whirlpool.
Follow medication administration protocols as identified for each resident.
Assist in grooming of residents (teeth, hair, nails, makeup, shaving).
Make beds, change linens, and keep rooms tidy.
Answer emergency calls promptly.
Assist with bedpan, urinal, and bedside commode or bathroom needs; monitor continence.
Take vital signs and report abnormal or unusual findings to nurse or Executive Director.
Assist in transport, ambulation, ROM and ADLs; ensure safety and request assistance when needed.
