Job summary

Vermilion Local Schools is seeking an Educational Aide for Vermilion Elementary School. Part-time position, 4.75 hours per day with a 30-minute lunch, reporting to the building principal. Contract length aligns with student schedules.

Responsibilities include supporting instructional staff, working with students individually or in small groups, and providing daily living skills guidance. Requires a high school diploma or GED and paraprofessional qualifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Paraprofessional qualifications required for this position.
• Ability to speak clearly and with correct grammar.
• Interest, desire, and ability to work with special needs students.
• Follow directions and demonstrate regular attendance.
• FBI/BCI background check with a clear record.
• Hold or obtain Educational Aide Certification license.
• Pass the Parapro Assessment Test.
• Complete required professional development.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with routines.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teaching staff to support the instructional program.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Provide educational and life skills assistance to students with special needs.
• Perform non-instructional duties such as snack time, toileting, and clothing routines.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and on school grounds.
• Assist with delivery of student items and school forms as needed.
• Communicate professionally with students, parents, and staff.
• Maintain student confidentiality and contribute to a positive environment.
