Job summary

Families & Communities Rising, Inc. in Hillsborough, NC is seeking a Teacher Aide for Head Start programs. You will support lead teachers, assist with daily lesson activities, and help children build independence in a warm, safe classroom.

This full-time, non-exempt position requires a high school diploma or GED, with CDA preferred. You will help with meals, transitions, and basic self-care, while maintaining confidentiality and communicating respectfully with families.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• CDA credential or coursework in early childhood education is preferred.
• Experience working with young children in a classroom, childcare, or similar setting is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions and work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily lesson plans, classroom activities, and small-group learning experiences.
• Prepare classroom materials, organize learning centers, and help with setup and cleanup throughout the day.
• Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through positive interactions and hands‑on activities.
• Help with meals, rest time, arrival, departure, and transitions between activities.
• Assist children with diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other self-help routines while following health and safety procedures.
• Maintain active supervision of children indoors and outdoors, promptly reporting safety concerns or incidents.
• Use positive guidance to encourage appropriate behavior and support children’s developing social skills.
• Keep classroom spaces, toys, and materials clean, sanitized, and organized.
• Welcome families warmly and communicate respectfully with children, families, and coworkers.
• Support basic classroom documentation, maintain confidentiality, and participate in staff meetings and required training.
