Job summary

IGHL a residential services provider in New York is seeking a Direct Support Professional to serve individuals with developmental disabilities. The DSP models respectful interaction, assists with activities of daily living, and provides hands-on support for daily tasks and health-related activities.

Responsibilities include medication administration per OPWDD AMAP certification, supporting self-care routines, documenting care logs, and participating in trainings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license.
• SCIP and Adult CPR certifications required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs at least five times per hour.
• Able to sit, stand or bend throughout the day.
• Enthusiastic team player capable of handling stress.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication per OPWDD AMAP certification.
• Uses redirection techniques and encourages choice making.
• Guides and supervises self-care routines with assistance as needed.
• Implements program goal plans for self-care, communication, mobility, and more.
• Implements physical therapy interventions as written.
• Supervises housekeeping tasks and ensures completion.
• Participates in recreation and community activities.
• Maintains DRIVER AUTHORIZATION status and provides transportation.
• Teaches nutrition and meal planning; supervises as needed.
• Keeps logs for nursing, medication, behavior, and first aid.
• Adheres to IGHL and OPWDD policies; completes forms.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; requests supplies as needed.
• Maintains SCIP, AMAP and CPR certifications; covers other locations as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
