Job summary

Whole Life is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to join our team in Shelton, CT. This role focuses on providing person-centered care to individuals with developmental and physical disabilities, supporting daily living activities, promoting independence, and encouraging community participation.

You will work 36 hours weekly across a schedule that includes mornings and weekend shifts, with training and paid orientation.

Qualifications

• Proof of High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Proof of valid driver's license, social security card, birth certificate, or passport.
• Ability to pass a Background Check, safe driving record, and Abuse Registry Check; post-hire fitness and TB test required within 30 days.
• Must be able to stand, move, twist, bend, kneel, reach, lift, and walk for the majority of your shift; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Must document care in English and communicate in English with clients and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and support medical appointments
• Ensure a clean, safe living environment through light housekeeping and laundry
• Engage clients in social activities, community outings, and choice-making to promote independence
• Document daily activities, observations, and incidents accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Implement individualized care plans
