Job summary

Whole Life in Connecticut seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. You will support daily living activities, promote independence, and help clients engage in community activities while documenting care and communicating with the team.

The role includes light lifting, medication administration, and collaboration with families and managers to implement personalized care plans.

Qualifications

• Proof of High School diploma or GED.
• Proof of valid driver's license, SSN card, birth certificate or passport.
• Pass a background check, safe driving record, and Abuse Registry Check; TB test within 30 days.
• Must be able to stand, move, lift up to 100 lbs unassisted.
• Must document care in English and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation.
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and support medical appointments.
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment through light housekeeping and laundry.
• Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote independence.
• Use mobility equipment (e.g., Hoyer lifts) with proper techniques.
• Document daily activities, observations, and incidents accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
• Implement individualized care plans.

Education

High School diploma / GED

Proof of valid ID (Driver's license, SSN card, birth certificate or passport)

Background Check & Fit for Duty TB test

Ability to stand, lift up to 100 lbs

English documentation & communication

First Aid/CPR certification

Medication Administration Certification
