Job summary

Addus HomeCare is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help seniors and people with disabilities live independently. This entry-level role offers flexible hours and the chance to build skills in quality home care within a growing company.

You will follow care plans, assist with daily activities, transport to appointments, and support with medication self-administration while reporting changes in condition to your team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and one year of in-home care experience.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.
• Good communication skills; reliable, energetic, self-motivated, and well-organized.
• Comfortable using an electronic device.

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.).
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary.
• Assist member with self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring).
• Observe and report changes in member's condition.
